Any Home Bakers Here?

I don't have any ideas but it isn't too early, the stupid grocery stores already have Halloween candy out! I'm sure it is to fool people in a hurry who don't realize Halloween is still 7 weeks away so they buy the candy early then can't help but eat it all and have to buy more later.

I did see a special candy display at costco yesterday and said: Why? and will there be trick or treaters this year?

That is an interesting question. I suppose the kids can safely walk door to door as long as the groups don't all get to the houses at once. But will people trust that there is no chance of the virus being on the candy wrappers or that the person handing it out is masked and stays back?

I’ve been wondering about that too. I’m probably going to just have some family time and a family Halloween party.

OK, I just had an awesome idea for Halloween. I just have a question I wanna ask all of you. How do you make a cake or cheesecake that has a black and white checkerboard pattern? Preferably 8 x 8. My idea is to make a chessboard, completely edible, and make chess pieces out of chocolate and white chocolate. Then, I set up the opening on the chessboard.

For those of you who don’t know, and opening in chess is a sequence of moves that tell what type of game is being played. For example,

1. e4 e5 2. f4

Kings Gambit Opening

The opening I’m going to do is called the Four Knights Game, Halloween Gambit.

Because it’s Halloween, get it?

You'd probably be better served with two 8x8 pans. One white cake and the other chocolate. Then cut each cake into 2" squares. Then glue the pieces back together with frosting. Alternatively, make an 8x8 cake and cut white and chocolate fondant into 1" squares and lay out your board.
