I would love to try a pumpkin pie, and wonder if a squash could be used instead of pumpkin as I don't find pumpkins here very often .

Actually, a lot of what we buy as canned pumpkin IS squash. You can also use sweet potatoes if they are more available. Not quite the same, but close.

On this subject, this is a pie pumpkin. I didn’t know that what we buy in the stores is actually squash, but this is a pumpkin grown specifically for pie.

i’ll post a recipe of how I make it from this pumpkin later.
