Hello! Just dropping in here. :)

We made spanakopita and Maryland white potato pie today. They were both excellent! The spanakopita has spinach, feta cheese, onion, garlic with many layers of phyllo dough. We used butter rather than olive oil in between the phyllo dough layers, which made it rather rich. The potato pie has mashed potatoes, milk, egg, sugar, lemon, vanilla, and nutmeg. The texture resembles mashed potatoes (unsurprisingly), but the lemon adds an interesting layer of flavor. Also very rich!

They both look really good!

Does anyone plan on making something special for the 4th?
I might dig a hill of flowering potato plants and see what we get. Is that inventive, or what? Maybe burgers and brats on the grill? It's supposed to start getting hot and muggy again tomorrow, so I'm not very inspired.

The spanakopita looks amazing!

Potatoes fresh from the garden sound good, they're so much better than the store bought ones.

We're doing brats on the grill and peppers & onions. If I can tolerate the oven being on, I might get a cobbler made up.

We’ll see what Ron comes up with. There was one recipe I used for a while, it had sourdough starter in it but also called for yeast and vital wheat gluten. It was baked in a loaf pan and was pretty nice to slice as I remember it.
Sequel, Both Penny and I have a bread slicer from
Amazon. I can size many thicknesses. Ron will have
the answer for you that will give you more information. Aria
