Would you be willing to share the recipe for the Amish Friendship Bread starter and the recipe for the bread?
Here is a site I used:
https://www.friendshipbreadkitchen.com/easy-sourdough-starter-recipe-with-yeast/

This type of starter doesn't seem to follow regular SDS feeding and care rules.

My starter was a gluten free version and I have not made the bread because of below.

The AFB smells like a glass of juice. Strongly of juice! And has a pinkish purple tinge to the hooch and the very top layer of starter.

My Friendship Bread SD starter is only a week old and the strong soured fruit juice smell along with the strange color (strange compared to my regular GF SDS) is a bit unsettling.

I went ahead and gave it some GF flour to see what would happen, and it did bubble like it should, but the strong soured fruit smell....while not awful, the opposite in fact...is just giving me pause because in all my reading up I never saw anyone mention it should smell fruity.

For the past year I've been learning how to bake yeast breads here at home. It's been challenging and rewarding (when it all comes together right, lol).

Today for the 1st time I made up a Boule recipe and ran into a snag. Is there anyone here that's familiar with yeast breads? Since I'm here several times a day reading about chickens, it would be great to chat with others that also bake.

Thank you for sharing! I love to bake, but my current passion us making homemade baby food, for my 8 month old granddaughter. I'm sure it will switch back to baking once she no longer needs baby food...lol
