It probably needed more time in the fridgenator, but it was Friday and I needed to get it baked before sundown. It's not bad. I put egg wash on it to brown it.
It is a tablespoon of white vinegar.When I gets my chickens back, I’m going to try it out![]()

It is not soft, and spongy, but rather delicious and crumbly when eating. I omitted the step of brushing the tops with buttermilk/butter combo,, and opted for WHOLE EGG WASH.. Bread tanned a nice color.

Followed recipe, but doubled it to make more bread loaves. Gave away a couple loaves to family visiting.

I did not have any buttermilk, so I dropped a quantity of sour cream into measuring vessel, and added balance with milk.

I doubled the recipe,,, so above is the 2x amounts. 2 eggs, 2 cups milk, and 1 cup melted margarine.

I used both Baking Soda, and Baking Powder. The sour cream provided the acidity to turn the baking soda active.

I am using a stand mixer to do the work for me. I first combine All wet ingredients, and then add the flour. Above is all wet (milk, softened margarine, and eggs) getting mixed well.

The flour I used shown above. Also regular All Purpose added but not shown in picture. The flour mixture also contains the baking soda, and baking powder, as well as salt. Below is a picture with half of the quantity of flour mixed in.

Above, is with all the remaining flour added, and mixed/kneaded in. It is somewhat stiff.

Onto my breadboard for next step. Note how clean the dough exited from the mixing bowl. The dough was pulling away from the bowl sides at the final kneading.

Divided into 4 portions to create 4 small loaves. Cut slits with razor, and scissors . Whole egg wash, and slipped into preheated oven. 375°F

Took out after 40 minutes, and checked both with a toothpick, as well as thermometer. Slightly hard to see clearly, but the temp is 209.5°F

One family member noted the hint taste of a BRIOCHE Bead flavor. I am guessing the eggs contributed to that flavor.![]()
