Any Home Bakers Here?

Finally am home again, during my absence my family ( men) managed to trash the refrigerator drawers ( for veggies) by breaking off the plastic holders and also trashed my bike by breaking off the chain guard, which led to the chain being broken as well and another thing broke down too, so… 165€ for the bike to get fixed and a new fridge too ( haven’t got the money, so right now I have to use veggies as fast as possible) that isn’t very good, cos I’ve got a whopping big bill from the hospital, I do have health insurance, but it won’t cover everything, I am glad to have it, cos I know in other countries health coverage is way worse. I could have gotten the „cheap“ hip, but since I’m allergic to certain metals, I opted for the pay your own ceramic hip cannot bake right now cos I’m not allowed to carry anything heavy, which means the iron cast pot is a no go as well as the mixing machine, oh well, have so much other stuff to take care of, it isn’t too bad

I’m glad you’re back home! Sorry about the state of things especially the refrigerator geez that’s an expensive thing to have to replace!
Just a thought about your ceramic hip. If you’re allergic to metals wouldn’t that make the ceramic one medically necessary? Considering the huge bill you’re probably facing I would sure get some other opinions.

Thanks, they do pay part of the hip replacement, but not the extra cost of the ceramic one, just a generic one, I haven’t got all the bills yet usually, the total cost should be around 15000€, a „regular“ one sets you back about 7-8000 €, since I have 2 different health insurances ( thank God) I hope I won’t have to pay too much, but friends of ours had to pay almost 7500€ by themselves they sued the health insurance company, but that takes time….since I also have to get the other hip replaced, I have to wait and see how much of the bills I will be stuck with, before deciding what to do next…first of all, I have to get back into shape again takes a lot of time and sweat I got on the bike for the first time in a year yesterday, I was able to ride it of course I also had to get it fixed cos my family had managed to trash the chain guard and chain anyways, happy to be home and hoping to get back to normal in a few months

Do you have an electric knife?

I have one but I don't use it, just a regular serrated bread knife. Slicing bread is one of my few skills. It's harder than it used to be, but I still have a good eye.

Aww, that's discouraging. Next time you have surgery maybe get a housekeeper/ relative to stay with them? Hope you're soon back on your feet, dear!

I baked a loaf of Japanese milk bread last night. I just had to have a taste before bed. It’s a little sweet for my taste but oh my it was so easy to slice! My sourdough is wonderful but a workout for sure when I slice it.

Jalapeño cheddar bread with cream cheese… and a really angry dog that can’t understand why he can’t have jalapeños.
It takes a full hour to preheat the oven, so no more baking in the next week or so unless I use a neighbor’s kitchen.
