Any Home Bakers Here?

Good morning, everyone.

I’m making a menu plan for this week and getting ready to go shopping to get some stuff. Spanish Paella is one of the ideas we have so far.

Also, I found this while I was in the crawlspace underneath my house. A member of another forum was able to date it to 1937.

That’s an 86 year old bottle.

Wow that’s probably quite valuable! It’s a gorgeous bottle and being Coca Cola too!

Very cool, Jared!

DH has found two customers for my sourdough bread at the bank where he works. :clap I'll bake Sunday and have the loaves ready for him to take to work with him Monday morning. That's the plan anyway. Wish me luck!

@ronott1, I just realized that you are not just the Sourdough Guru, you are actually the Sourdough Godfather! I wonder how many folks here on this thread are baking with your SDS (sourdough starter)?

Folks, can we get a count? If you are using Ronott's starter, would you please testify by just posting "Ronott Rules!" in this thread? Let's give it till, Nov. 19, say, at midnight, then we'll post the results within a day or two after that. Please, only post once. Thanks!
I have been giving out starter since the mid 1980s. I have been mailing starter around the country, mostly for Back Yard Chicken folks since at least 2016.

When I run low on dried starter, I dehydrate another batch. I will need to get the dehydrator out again soon!

Good job!

Well, it’s official. I was wrong and my car is completely busted.

The engine is damaged in such a way that we are losing compression. As a result, the car will not start. I’m pretty sure there’s permanent engine damage.

Oh well. At least I tried and I learned how to replace a timing belt!

Sorry to hear that, Jared. I'm glad you were able to see the bright spot of learning something during the ordeal.

And, cool find with the old Coke bottle!

I didn’t think about making my own cornmeal.
I have done this before.

Contrary to what She said in the video, you can make cornmeal from frozen corn. You do have to dehydrate the corn first and then grind it, but that makes the best cornmeal!
