It’s hard to describe. It’s a cactus fruit. Best description of the taste I’ve come across is a cross between a pear and a kiwi with a hint of citrus.
I didn't know it was a cactus fruit, thought they grew on trees but not like this

It was either that or my growing zone.

Another thing worth mentioning is I heard their flowers are beautiful, but only last one night. Not sure if that’s true or not, though.
Very interesting. One of my neighbors just brought me a large container of
Homemade Turkey Noodle Soup. I have wonderful neighbors. Aria

I made a turkey noodle casserole with alfredo sauce tonight. It was delicious. But we still have a little meat left over for sandwiches. Or maybe tacos. We ate Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant, but heated up a whole smoked turkey for "leftovers." It's a lot of meat!

Did some baking over the weekend. Everyone likes my fruit filled cakes,
Here is my Mise en place,, Cherries, Raspberries, apples, strawberries, and plums

Made 4 loaves of yeast raised cake. Above the pans is the extra fruit, so made an additional sheet cake,, Baking powder raised.

This is the baking powder raised sheet cake. I did not want to take the extra time to make additional yeast dough. Baking powder dough is FAST, and easy.

My total bake.,,,,, Yes someone did sneak a corner of that sheet cake, while still warm. The baking powder cake took a long time to bake. (about 70 minutes) Compared to the yeast loaves. (about 40 minutes)
So I was checking the dough on the sheet cake after first 50 minutes. Adding 10 minutes bake,, each time the poker did not come up dry. That is the reason for the corner missing. I had to make sure it was done.. :old:gig:lau
