Any Home Bakers Here?

Several months ago, I ordered a yogurt culture and it made great yogurt for several batches, and then... the yogurt was thinner and runnier. I drain it to make Greek style, and even that wasn't as thick as before. I thought the culture had some kind of problem, so I planned to get new.

I made the next batch with store bought Greek yogurt, as I had before I bought the dried culture. Same result... thinner, runnier, and definitely bland! tasting. Ok, get another brand of yogurt to use as starter. Same thing. Another brand, same thing.

The commonality in all of this is the milk I've used. It finally occurred to me that they may be processing the milk differently! 🤦‍♀️

My next batch will be with a different brand of milk.

I made these today.

You just throw everything together, and freeze the balls. You see that they look very peanut buttery in the picture, but if you think about it, you understand why my turned out really white from the yogurt.
Well, I think I have figured out why they seem to not even taste very much like peanut butter. I think you’re supposed to use the powdered peanut butter.
They don’t taste bad, so I do recommend making them even if you use regular peanut butter, and not the powdered stuff. I do suggest using extra peanut butter though.
I think I’m just going to let the ones in the freezer come to room temperature tomorrow, and stir in a little bit of the powder.

Visited father-in-law and made some blueberry streusel muffins for him

Where he lives is so beautiful, everything is green 🥰 many people hate dandelions, I love them, the flowers are food for bees and the leaves are very healthy, be it for chickens or humans

Sadly, the field beside the house, which used to be a pasture for horses is being worked over to build houses, lots of them 🙄

Thanks for the recipe!

As some of you may recall I've been wanting to make my own bread for a while, thought about the bread maker route, didn't follow up.

But, I found a Dough Girl on eBay last night! And bought it!!!
:yesss:

My mother had one. They work.

It does mixing and kneading of dough by turning a crank, no electricity, no electronics. My arthritic hands will be happy.

Now I just need to go back and reread the sourdough posts!
