Any Home Bakers Here?

Having grandparents (the ones with dementia) and another family over for Thanksgiving. Serving 14 people total.

My menu plan

Main:
Turkey
Prime rib
At what time will you be serving the Prime Rib???

And I'll need your address...

:gig

I will be having my vegetarian future (?) daughter-in-law over for Christmas ( she will be arriving on the 20.) usually, Christmas meals are heavy on meat ( roasted goose, duck breast, beef fillets) so I have to think about how to handle that, also, the red cabbage usually get simmered in goose sauce, potato dumpling sauce also is made from goose sauce… I will have to cook everything separately for her, and think about 4 vegetarian main dishes 😓

I am good at vegetarian cooking, but usually, it is like curries or egg recipes like pancakes, typical german Christmas dinners vegetarian style are hard to do… I have got the house full and don’t really have to time to fix something extra 🤔 regular visit isn’t a problem, then everyone gets to eat curries, but Christmas?! I looked up vegetarian recipes, there are some out there, but they are a lot of work, just for 1 person …

Any chance she can bring something?

When I was a vegetarian and invited to a potluck, I took something I knew I could eat. This was the mid 80s, so it was rare that food intolerances/special diets were on the mainstream radar.

Now, being GF, I would offer to bring something I know is safe for me.

I spend Thanksgiving with a group that includes a vegan. She brings a side dish, and eats the vegetables. We all have some kind of vegan “meat” in our freezers (religious reasons), but it isn’t offered to her because holidays are too busy, and she enjoys the fellowship more than the food.

I once made an absolutely fantastic, holiday worthy, lentil stuffed acorn squash dish that was entirely vegetarian (maybe even vegan), and someone actually thought that there was meat in it, it tasted so good (and he ate it way too fast to notice it was lentils). 😂 I will have to try and find a similar recipe, it might be an option.
