Any Home Bakers Here?

Tomorrow will be a baking and cleaning day.

Two cakes and two dozen cookies
Red Velvet cake
Chocolate cake
Chocolate chip cookies
Cornbread
A large pot of deer and sausage chili
Three gallons of tea
And praying our power will not go out 🙏

My daughter and I are driving down to Georgia on Friday to my parent’s house. Leaving early, so we can make it off the mountain.

Which mountain? We lived on the Cumberland Plateau in north central Tennessee for several years. Our oldest daughter still lives in Knoxville.

Although it may be the Plateau as we’re on or near the line.

Edit: I just looked it up and we are on the Cumberland Plateau. I always thought were at or near the line, but no we are on the plateau. Everyone here just calls it the mountain.

I made the Sally's Addiction angel food cake today that calls for a dozen egg whites (I've made it a few times before - it's always good). The yolks are in the fridge and this weekend they'll be used in a "Vintage Gold Cake" https://cookingwithcarlee.com/vintage-gold-cake-brunchweek/#wprm-recipe-container-11404

BUT - I'm adding poppy seeds and lemon extract to the batter. I think it will turn out like a rich lemon poppy seed pound cake. I'm very hopeful for this one. :cool:
I love that angel food cake! I make it often, is great with a little lemon or almond extract for a different flavor! Is very easy to make gluten free for friends with difficulties too, and I usually swap out the sugar for half the amount of honey (before the whipping) to make it processed sugar free.

I made the mistake of using all the egg yolks to make vanilla custard to go with it several years ago, now im not allowed to do anything else! 😆 🤣
Apparently now Angel food cake = Custard, and we must not skip it!

On a different note, I have a fantastic lemon poppyseed cake recipe if yours doesn't turn out good!
