We lived in Crossville Tennessee for 6 years. Loved the area, hated the weather. I now know why they call it "Rocky top"!The Cumberland Mountains
Although it may be the Plateau as we’re on or near the line.
Edit: I just looked it up and we are on the Cumberland Plateau. I always thought were at or near the line, but no we are on the plateau. Everyone here just calls it the mountain.
We like the weather because it doesn’t stay hot for too long.We lived in Crossville Tennessee for 6 years. Loved the area, hated the weather. I now know why they call it "Rocky top"!
Sometimes when I'm having to dig to plant something on our land, I find myself belting out that song. Dirt's too rocky by far! And yes, we do sometimes get our corn from a jar.We like the weather because it doesn’t stay hot for too long.
Ahh, know it well.
We go to Crossville at least twice a year to shop at Rural King.
Yea, it’s rocky.
Corn won’t grow at all on Rocky Top and (not us) but some people up here still get their corn from a jar”.
Home sweet home to me!
A friend of ours, retired policeman, introduced us to some of his friends. Around here, the general consensus is to stay out of each other’s business - so even a cop will overlook an illegal still of it’s not harming anyone.A friend of ours, retired policeman, introduced us to some of his friends. We went to one of the couple’s houses and the house had a large basement.
Guy had a still down there.
(My husband and I do not drink alcohol - so kinda surprised us)
He was not even trying to hide it.
Showed it off with pride.
And our police friend knew about it for years. He just smiled.
First operating still I have ever seen in my life.
Sorry to get off topic.
