Any Idea On A breed?

I have a beagle mix (Toby) that hardly sheds at all - and he adores the chickens <g>.

Beagles are so fun, good guard dogs (loud bark/howl/call) and their ears are like velvet - I love beagle ears.

I threw a treat onto his belly - to see if the roos would go after it, They seemed to be double dog daring each other, but Toby ate the treat before they could decide.

I will always recommend a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. They are a large, dry-mouth breed with short hair (though they do have an undercoat). They are protective of their property and people, but not agressive. Good working dogs that have historically been used for carting and pulling. We have a swissy mix and he is absoultely the best dog we have ever had. He loves to play but is very well-behaved and mellow when it isn't playtime. Here is a picture of him at about 3.5mos old:

Well, I recomend coonhounds, but I guess its just me! They barely shed, there very lovin, most dont drool (but some do, just check there mouth shape to be sure ya dont get a drooler) and that bawl mouth will let ya know whats goin on, even if they are a little... cowardly sometimes. I love mine!

Labradoodles and other oodle mixes do NOT breed true. They are f1-3 mutts, the non-shedding trait does not set.

It, in fact, never ever set true in the F1-F16 generations of the initial Australian experiment where they were trying to create a non-shedding guide/service dog.

It NEVER set, that means it's a gamble as to whether any dog from an OODLE sheds or not, totally unpredictable, totally unreliable. Can't happen. Marketing would have you believe otherwise.

But all kinds of people lie for profit and others lie because they're ... searching for nice word... under-educated, or have been LIED to. The labradoodle market of f1-3 mutts would like you to believe otherwise. This is not the case.

In fact lab and poodle rescues are filling with shedding doodles. <gasp>

In a hot hurry someone has to build labradoodle rescues because the floodgates have opened. They're actually being dumped in huge numbers into shelters to DIE because they didn't stay the size a breeder claimed and they SHED. They're dying in staggering numbers. Not a nice industry.

Standard and miniature poodles in a sport or puppy clip are not fancy and they're very practical animals. Just because someone raises theirs to be bratty foofoo, doesn't mean it has to be that way and No one said by a poorly bred specimen. Poorly bred purebreds are rarely nice.

Breeders like Ninja show the true potential of the breed. If you can ignore the fancy show cuts that hide the real dogs with real work ethic hiding under there or see working /sport poodles then you'd understand appearances aren't everything.

Almost every dog that sheds very little, be it poodle or terrier has then additional GROOMING NEEDS and COSTS. Either you have to learn to do it properly or you have to pay regularly to have it done. Unless you want to let it grow dreads, an even bigger mess. (Friend had show Pulis.)

To be totally and unfailingly accurate. ALL DOGS SHED. In some breeds the coat does not fall to the ground, it is caught within itself and does not end up on furniture and floors.

If it doesn't fall out you have to GROOM it out and clean it.

Grooming is costly.

How about a Jack Russell They are a small dog with the heart of a lion. We are waiting until later in the month to see if the Wakulla Animal shelter has any They are waiting to close down a puppy farm that they found They are looking for homes for two hundred dogs. Its taking the judge a long time to write up the order to take the animals.

Jack Russell are great dogs, but they shed a lot, or at least mine does. Mine is a WHOLE LOT of dog. If he were bigger I don't think he would work here. As it is, he is my bud, has sooo much character and we all love him greatly. He stays in the radio fence really well, but if he is let out he must be on a leash or he's off like a bullet and an on coming train wouldn't stop him. Chickens or anything small that moves is in grave danger around him. The perfect dog is out there, keep looking.

We have a labradoodle (and an Airedale). Labradoodle, named Dude, is terrific, has the best of the standard poodle and black lab, mother and father respectively, does not shed, eager to please, gentle, loving, etc. big dog at 70 lbs.
Or you could consider a goldendoodle....golden retriever cross with standard poodle.

Grooming is no problem what so ever.
We do it ourselves and always have.


Poodles just dont set right with me, the little ones yap yap yap, and i just dont personally like them as my own pets.

I dont mean to offend anyone or diss their dogs. I am just the sort of person who would..well , lets put it like this:

Will never have a chihuahua , yearns for a malamute
Would rather have a great dane, than a Pomeranian.
Would rather be rolling in the mud with my best friend ( dog)
Than be sitting on the couch grooming.
Will always choose running in a tall grass pasture, free of leash and collar, than walking on the sidewalk.

I know, it doesnt make that much sense, but i tried to put it best i can.
