Plymouth Rocks can come in;
White, Barred, Blue, Black, Partridge, Silver Penciled, Columbian, and Buff

If the mother was barred, the son would at least have barring in the tail. If the mother was a purebred barred rock, the son would be black/barred.

The only way that dad can be a cochin is if both of his parents are cochins. The only way mom can be a barred rock is if both her parents are barred rocks. So if the parents are a cochin and a barred rock, you have 1 granddad and one grandma who are cochin, and you have 1 granddad and one grandma who are barred rock.
