Any ideas on what this "rare" breed chick might be?

This chick is developing some color on the wings, at least. See the later photo. More pictures in another week or two, I hope.

I saw that. Adorable.:):pop
I’m going to be in the same dilemma next week. I have a “few” chicks arriving from Meyer and one of them is a meal maker. Therefore no identity. It will be a pet and the eggs will be donated ( not sure where yet). I will be here asking the same question :barnie

@Aristocat123, our Meyer meal maker was a RIR cockerel, a nasty little guy who turned into dinner. 'Meal makers' are very likely not egg layers, sorry.
Mary
Oh no! Thank you for telling me that. I specifically asked them if it would be a cockerel and they said No. All my chicks are females. I’m going to send them a message right now. Their website says it’s in the same line with what the order is. Yikes. Thank you. Thank you. I cannot have roosters.

Feathering doesn't match

I think you are right but there are several pictures of Sussex chicks near the bottom of the following link and to my old untrained eyes they look similar.

Hatchery LS sometimes have yellow legs.

Meal makers are usually meat birds. Or white leghorns. Pretty much always one of those two.

Our Meyers order was years ago, so I do hope they changed their plan!

Ok, I spoke to them and they assured me that since I only have females in the order they will only send a female. Also since I already have 3 RIR (one was supposed to be a Wellie). I asked them to send me anything else but that breed and they said they will put a note to cancel the meal maker if that is the breed they have. TBD

I made sure to tell them that they are all pets and I cannot cull anything therefore I will only use the eggs . I respect anyone that can . I will have to call a neighbor if I’m ever in that situation. We are both softies. My boyfriend almost passed out at the sight of his own blood so culling is out of the question. TBD
