Any ideas what would tear up the straw/muck in a goose enclosure?

We have 8 geese that stay in their own stall at night. Our chicken coop is on a cement pad, but the stall is dirt, straw and muck where the geese get it wet. Something is tearing it up during the day while the geese are out roaming. Stall doors are shut and windows have panels with 6x6" squares. Any ideas what would be going in there? We thought a turtle looking to lay eggs after we found a snapper but it happened again today and no snapper in sight.
