I loom knit. I inherited a nice knitting machine and need to learn how to use it, too. I can't knit with needles because I have some nerve issues that make it difficult. I used to felt the old fashioned way with elbow grease and hot water, but can't do that right now, either.

Hi from The Spinning Cottage! I've been spinning and weaving for almost 30 years now. I have given demos at Renaissance Fairs, taught children's craft camps where we did "sheep to shawl" projects, and taught adults out of my little craft cottage (now destroyed thanks to Hurricane Charley in '04). I drop spindle, e-spin, and sit by the fire and spin on my ancient Ashford Traveller single treadle. My dream wheel is the Rio Grande!! I weave beaded scarves and rag rugs. I have several pounds of Qiviut, purchased 10 years ago before the prices skyrocketed. I also have tons of other exotic fibers. I still have lots of tools and implements from my long-gone Internet business from the pre-Hurricane Charley days. One day I'll be brave enough to put some things on eBay or Etsy. I don't know why I'm so shy about it, I think the hurricane took the wind out of my sails! Maybe some of us could trade samples or at least post photos. I'll start, in case anyone's interested. Here's some "Chiengora" - an incredibly soft two-ply spun from Great Pyrenees (Sarge R.I.P.), Merino sheep, and silk. It's 660 yards, dyed a beautiful slate blue-gray. I hope some others will post pictures of their yarn. Thanks for starting this thread!

My friend owns a knitting and spinning store here in So.Md..I know how much joy it brings to her so I'm sorry to hear about your store:( The yarn you've spun is really pretty!!! I really should take more pics of mine. i have an Ashford Traveller too!!!! I don't weave but I do love to knit and spin, thanks to my friend. She is awesome! I've only done one demo at a kids day type thing. Phew! Never again! I work with kids all week so i found I was totally done and worn out when it was over. I have quite a few drop spindles as well. I've been known to take them on field trips with me:D Gettin paid to spin! Gotta love it!!

I've been knitting for 20 years, spinning for 10, crocheting for 10, dyeing yarn and fiber for 5. I am a fiberaholic!

Believe it or not , I knit and crochet. Currently I've been knitting 12 inch squares for blankets we make in the church for those sick or hospitalized. I like to do granny squares with all the ends and surround them in black. I like all the colors. I can do mittens with four needles too, but haven't as it's cheaper to buy them.

I moved my yarn shop to my house from the town and am having classes here. I have learned so much and would love to knit a sweater!

I am currently working on 2 pairs of socks. One is using the toe up method and the other is the traditional DPN.

This is the traditional sock, using Candy Stripes Kroy Sox yarn from Patons.

I'm glad to have stumbled upon this thread!

I knit and crochet and want to learn how to spin. Do you guys have any advice as to where to start? Do I buy a drop spindle set and roving? I've enjoyed reading all of your posts and would like very much to see photos as well
