Any more Kansans?

I heard that there was a chicken auction in/around Dodge City. Did anyone go?

Anyone planning on going next Friday to Yoder? I haven't ever been to a chicken auction. What is it like?

I haven't decided if I'm going to Yoder next friday or not. Haven't been for a couple of months so I might.

If you're thinking of buying, be sure and bring cages or crates because most people don't sell the cage along with the birds. I usually try and put mine in cardboad boxes with wire on top so they don't have to be transfered from one cage to another. I've seen more than one chase for a loose chicken over the years!! It's like any other auction...the cages are lined up and the auctionner (SP?) goes down the line selling them.

There's usually a wide assortment of different kinds of chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, lot of rabbits, etc. I've even seen parakeets, kitten and puppies there.

It's rather interesting.

Hi all!
Fellow Kansan here. From the southwest corner. Went to the fall auction in Dodge, wanting to go to Yoder but I haven't made it there yet. Would love to get more info. about it. Last Friday of the month, I know, and that it's now in a new location but haven't heard where that is. Some say the feed store ( I think) parking lot, but is that the new or old location? There will be a spring auction in Dodge, too. http://www.backroadsfarms.com/ She puts it on. April 12, I think it'll start at 9. If you take birds, best to get there early. Check in starts Friday at 3 p.m., if everything remains the same as in the past. Dodge also sells some poultry during their livestock auction on the first Monday of the month (they sometimes alternate between 1st Mondays and 1st and 3rd Mondays).

Hello Kansans!!

i'm looking for pullet Rhode Island Reds, Black or Red Stars, & Buff Orpingtons.
If anyone knows where i can get some of these, (perferably in Ks) i would appriciate it!

Topeka. Looking in the Topeka paper doesnt tell me much about poultry auctions, or for that matter, no other auctions other than estate auctions.
