My birds are in flight pens with heavy brush growing in there. They build nest in this brush when they wanna sit and thats where they do it. If they are not wanting to set they just drop them where ever they are in there.
Here's a pic of the one hen nesting, however she got off the nest on day 11 and never sat again. i checked the eggs and they where not fertile and she must have known some how..this was well after the males stopped breeding and was not to be this year. However they did hatch out a few poults for me earlier in the year
We have 3 turkey flight pens, each is about 50' L X 25 W' X 7-8' h, My best girls that like to sit will be in the pens that have the most greens..

doubleostud, no coop they are out in the open just as my pheasant are. Of course some of my pens have wind breaks on the western sides of the pens beings the wind blows from the west to the east here most of the time.
Also there are 4 ft roosts in all the pens, heated waters for winter. Ive had them for some time now and they do very well in these set ups..
Yup, they are very hardy birds.. when the PGC first came here they told me how they love Our set up for the turkeys and pheasants.. so i cant argue with that

Put a brushpile that the hen can get underneath and they will use it everytime. You can place it over a nesting box old tire or whatever but the brushpile will attract nesting hens like a magnet. Make sure she has enough room to stand and turn her eggs and also make sure it will support the weight of any other turkeys who decide to sit on top of it.
