As a nurse who worked drug rehab:
If a lab is testing you for a specific drug and you are positive BUT you have a prescription they will mark your drug test as NEGATIVE.
So if I had a prescription for Vicodin and I had been takining it and my employer required me to take a drug test, the results issued by the would state that I am NEGATIVE for opiates, even though it is in my system.
