Wow, that first hatch is impossible to repeat! You must have been on cloud 9. Brooster, I must be really getting old, I did'nt even realize you were hatching a batch. What kind of incubator do you have? So exciting it must be. I would love to do that. What breeds are they, are they your eggs? So sorry about the heavy rooster count. How many chickens do you have?

MB, I use a Brinsea Advance and a Hovabator. I don't have a hatch going right now, but as soon as I'm up to 24-36 eggs/week, I'll probably set a batch of EEs. I'm actually getting a ton of emails from local folks needing chicks. I guess it's that time of year again! I have 18 chickens currently.

The new chicks are now 11 days old. Here's a picture from day 1. I'll take more pictures tomorrow so you guys can help me confirm my many, many tiny roosters. They're growing so fast!

Thanks for the comments of the chart, feel free to use it from yourself. I will probably adjust and make changes as I go along. Maybe next month a powerpoint on our egg production. Down day today only got 7 eggs. Probably 9 tomorrow unless Lemon lays then maybe 10....

I have a video I took with our poodle Ginger playing witht he chickens. Sooo funny! She is so good with them! I don't know how to put it on here?? I got it to my Facebook and that's it Just the 2 eggs today, but Lilly, Lucy, and Dolly sitting in the nests today Soon!!!!

YAY! My BA has been laying since the 18th of Jan but hasn't squatted for me once Actually only Stella will. My next 3 or 4 are the same but 26 weeks and 19 weeks. LOL So different

Congrats to everyone who got their first eggs! I cracked open that teeny tiny egg today the yoke was not formed correctly. It was all runny. I forgot to take a picture of it. Only got one egg today, again. I really can't wait for my SS girls to start laying again it has been long enough. A4 month break is good enough I think.

The sun is out and the temp is tolerable! I need to take advantage of this weather and clean the coop and brooder. 2 week old chicks are so messy!! Speaking of chicks...here are some pics as I promised MB. The first one is a Cuckoo Marans (I didn't order any Cuckoo Marans eggs btw. It was a surprise), and the 2nd chick is a mystery Marans. I thought it was Golden Cuckoo, but now I have no idea.
