So, I got the flu really bad. Hit me yesterday at noon. I can't do anything, so weak. Sent the DH and kids to check for an egg yesterday... and they came back with 2! The kids were so excited. After the DH is done putting groceries away, I'll have them go out and check for the day. Hoping I can get up later this afternoon and see my chickens. when my DH went to get feed today, he texted me a pic of an incubator...yay, he is looking forward to chicks too! Maybe once Iget a good collection going I will get one, or build one.

Sitting at the tire shop putting new tires on the motorhome. Yay vacation cant get here soon enough! Ill miss the girls but these 3 weeks in the heat and sun wins over everything else lol! My friend is their 2nd mother so they'll be fine. All of them should be laying by then! Have a good weekend everyone!

Crafty Chick sorry to hear you are sick hope you get feeling better soon.

Debbie did you get the nice weather yesterday too. It was 61 here sunny and beautiful. I was really hoping for more the 1 egg. Maybe today they will lay more because of yesterdays nice weather.

Good to hear from everyone, sorry about the flu and totally envious of the vacation, it's snowing here today, you know those lake effect snows, one minute it's a white out and the next minute it's sunny and with the white outs come the winds---I am very tired of this winter which has not been what I predicted at all. LOL So, today 3 eggs, I don't know what's up with my partridge plymouth--yesterday I think she laid one of the broken eggs but last evening was on the nest four an hour or so no egg.? I think my smallest barred rock is the egg picker. I watched her while she was on the nest (much to the dismay of my RIR-Lucy) she guarded the coop door--- I watched her leave the coop and went back outside and found her egg but it was definately pecked at and she was the only one inside....hope it's not going to happen all the time. My husband came from the feed store yesterday to report the chicks were in.....I am glad I didn't go too or I may have come home with a couple new babies. Love the pics of all those posted and will keep the Brahma at the top of my list. I also love the Marans and the easter eggers really intrigue me. I too have always been a lover of my dogs but these chickens really have my heart strings. I also like the idea of a x breed for a meat bird for the same reasons, you don't have them long enough to get attached----LOL

Well we have had an egg every other day since Monday. We also finally have our normal weather back here in the valley so all the chickies were having a great time dust bathing in the sun and 75 degree weather. It is supposed to go back to freezing this next week so we are enjoying it while we can.

Well, drat. I was hoping for a 4-egg day today. It happened, but one of the eggs had a really soft, rubbery shell. I guess the good news is that my last hen is finally laying. Hope her next egg is normal!

Have fun on your vacation! My ex-mother-in-law used to live in Clallam Bay, so we've passed through Port Angeles many times on our way to visit her when we lived in Tacoma. We live in the Portland area now, so we haven't been up there in forever. Our favorite rest stop was the McDonalds in Port Angeles...of course this is when my daughter was little. Hehe!

Very exciting day here. We had a 5 egg day! That means I have 2 new layers. The camera wasn't working this morning, so I missed the first one, but this afternoon it captured Loretta laying a beautiful sky blue little pullet egg. Both new eggs are little and blue. Loretta's egg was broken, gosh darn it. That's the 2nd broken egg in 2 days. I'm not sure what the deal is. I'm starting to suspect they're getting broken against the wooden dummy eggs. Probably time to move those anyway. Irlene gets into the box and kicks the rest of the eggs everywhere. She's an aggressive nester.

So now to figure out who laid the other one? It could only be one of 2 chickens. I think it's Dinosaur, the Ameraucana.

I do ! We can make stops along the way and pick everyone up! LOL We go to Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and Vegas for 3 weeks Practicing snowbirding, we were doing 2 weeks now going for 3 this year
