Just had to post this,, went out to the barn to check on the new pair....look what she left me! Now I'm really in love!

Absolutely beautiful!!!! They're saying thank you for welcoming them to their new home!

I also heard about cutting back on corn. My girls love a little scratch in the late evenings so I should probably cut that out or find an alternative? I'll have to check the corn contents on that bag.

I meant to include my alternative. In the summer I give them sultanas instead. About half a cup full between the four of them.They go mad for them!

Well we got our first odd egg. Hermia is on a roll. She has been doing a three day on, one day off laying schedule since she started laying two months ago. This week she laid six days straight, took a day off and then laid two today! First one was normal, second one was shelless. I would have assumed it was from one of my girls that hasn't laid yet but my daughter got to see it come out. She thought it was very cool of course. It was perfectly shaped and the same size as always but no shell. She has always had nice thick eggshells and the membranes are apparently quite thick too. I had to really poke at it to get it open. It was a perfect yolk and white and the dogs thought it was delicious. Still waiting on the other girls. they are super interested in the egg shells I put out and their combs and wattles are getting redder and redder so it's gotta be soon.....

It was such a windy night here last night. We dont have a lot of wild life here in our neighborhood so DH removed the girls door to their house. Well that makes it nice not having to rush out there at day light to let them out but now if their run door is opened they get out. Which is what happened this morning. I have been sick and not sleeping very well so at 9 this morning I was laying in bed, when I heard a chicken out front near my window. I looked out the window and sure enough Daphne and Phoebe were out front near the pond. I jumped up got dressed and ran out there to put everyone back in the run. I counted and made sure everyone was there and they were. Everyone had nice full crops. They were not happy with me for putting them back in their run though.
