Oh My...so happy for you that your son is safe.Melabella, what a story...it's hard to hold back tears. What a loss for your family! We've had so many big losses the past few decades. This Boston one had me in a knot because my 28 year old son was running the marathon that day. I was a complete mess for 45 minutes waiting to find out...eventually he was able to use someone's computer to post "safe" on his FB page. He was at mile 25 1/2 when he ran into a crowd of runners not running and then they were all diverted to a different route. Very thankful he was not having a good running day and was behind the bombs, but extremely sad about the losses...when those families got notices, it was not good news as mine was. It is hard to stay open and loving at times like this when it appears that humanity doesn't have much....but I remember Mr. Rogers. I remember him telling what his mother said when he was a boy hearing about a fearful disaster....she said....look for the helpers....look how many people help and are caring. So despite the destroyers, I try to not forget for a second that the goodness is still there.
So nice that they are squatting for you! Mine laid about 2-3 weeks after I noticed the first squat so hopefully you will getting eggs before long! I don't think I properly welcomed you to the thread... sooooooMy kids got the biggest kick out of all the hens doing the squat yesterday. My youngest gave them all a pep talk about laying eggs this morning.
Oh boy, it hasn't taken me much to get tears the last few weeks, and I got teary when I read your post earlier today. This must be so hard to have happen, I am so sorry you have to go through this, what a sweet face Hope had... Hugs to you H Aggie, wish I could give you a real hug...
Yes, I too have discovered the "no place is sacred" attitude with beds, flowers, and anything we try to keep in an orderly fashion around here! Since we have bought this house 3 years ago, I am dying to put in some nice flower beds, but since I am streched so thin in the financial dept, it just might have to wait until next year. the have turned one flower bed from last year into their dust bath. Good Luck with getting rid of the ants.. I hate when insects get into our living space!Worked in the flowerbeds all day today...weeded, placed layer of newspaper down, mulch...etc. I even poisoned some ants (i know..big NO NO with chickens) I put the poison then a thick layer of newspaper then thick mulch...THEN a little barricade around where the ants were. So THEN the dang ants decided to come way out on the driveway to die!!! Ive been on duty making sure no chicken eats the dead or dying ants..UGHHHHHH. Now im going to sweep up all the dead ones. And in the mean time I found a huge dug out spot in the new mulch with shredded newspaper. Come on chickens....could you please go play somewhere else!!!!!! As i am new to chickens im learning that the flowerbeds may not look perfect this summer......
Happy Aggie...sorry for your loss...hate to hear that![]()
