New to this thread, but I certainly understand the charm of all of this anticipation! I have 3 BR's and 1 BO that are 13 weeks and aging! Love seeing that they are healthy and strong and thriving, especially when I am new to all of this. I also have 2 six week old white BR's that will soon be joining my other girls in the big girl coop in a few weeks. Side by side now. Opened the access door the other day and saw 2 of my BRs in the nesting boxes trying them on for size. Works for me! Excited for their first eggs!

By my figuring they would be 16 weeks on Monday the 4th of Aug. if they were born on April 14th on Monday.

So very excited.

We just hit about 20 weeks and my birds are starting to show some serious egg laying signs. Combs have been reddening for the last couple of weeks. For the first time yesterday I touched Etta's back and she squatted for me. Then this afternoon I heard an egg song coming from under our trampoline (one of the flocks favorite places to hang out.) No eggs there, so I assume it was just a practice song.

Tonight when I went down to clean the coop, there were pine shavings all over the coop (we have a sand floor in the coop, and pine shavings in the nest boxes) and the golf ball I had put in one of them was buried. This is the first time I've seen them take any notice of the nest boxes at all.

4 Faverolles and 1 Sussex (don't think it's the Sussex, as she's about 1-2 weeks younger than the others, and her comb is still pretty light colored.)

Oh, and then this happened.....

Welcome to the thread Jax...

I have some 13 week olds too! We can wait to gether! I like the white rocks.. so pretty. One of my 13 week olds is a white maran. Love her. I also have 4 10 week old Lavender Ameraucanas and 3 six week old Swedish Flower Hens. I am trying to build a second flock so that I will try to have hens always laying.
