Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Sure, go ahead rub it in. You better hide, I'm going to find you, and me and the chickens are all going to come down for a little visit
"Company"....lol

I think if I can remember back when he first posted, he said he was from the US Virgin Islands, ,,, hence his name! Or is he a she? Sorry USVIyardbird, I can't remember. I've got swiss cheese for a brain!

HA, I'm a she LOL

, Yes all I live in the Caribbean, US Virgin Islands on the island of St. Thomas

As yes! I remember now. And the name makes total sense.

Oh yes, Please continue to rub in your beautiful tropical weather. Who wants to be warm anyway? MB and I are perfectly content with our snow-wind-ice, right? Our chickens love it too.

Is it April yet? I already feel like it's been winter forever. On a plus note, I figured out a pretty cool trick last night...preheated pajamas! I tuck my PJs into my electric blanket an hour before bedtime! No more huddling in bed waiting for it to get warm. Now I can fall asleep instantly! Our house is heated with a wood stove, and our bedroom isn't heated at all. I'm too stingy to turn on a space heater.

I've visited Seattle, California, Arizona, Florida and South Carolina. When ever it got cold when I was visiting I would put my sweater in the dryer to get warm before I head out. Oh not to mention, my honeymoon was to ALASKA, I was layered.. lol
But I enjoyed all my visits, its different from the island weather. I've always said if I move from the islands I want to move to some where that I can enjoy all four seasons.

Hello all! Can you believe Iread through this whole thread without posting anything? Ha, but I can't hold it any longer. My BO are 18 weeks. I just built their nest boxes this last weekend. Along with my roo getting all hormonal this last week, 4 of my 5 pullets faces are red! And the best part... I just went out to check on them and tried to pet one. I've got a SQUATTER!! So excited. I had chickens growing up, but these are my first on my own.

Hi Crafty Chick, I have one BO she is 22 weeks, no eggs yet from her. My 1 RIR and 1 BR are my only two that are laying out of my nine. Can't wait till they all are laying. MY BO is not as red as the RIR and the BR. Hope you get your eggs soon!!

I so want a BO... My local feed store is getting some of them on Feb. 8th and I will definitely get one of them. I may also get another Ameraucan as well. To see if I get a different color egg then the ones I get right now. Also, I so like Lemon's color and look that I hope he gets some light colored ones. Both of mine now have that pheasant color.... Hope Lemon is doing better Red. I have been worried for you all.
I got to try that recipes. I love to cook and am egg-cited to get started in using my eggs. I have been giving most of mine away... Just too happy and I want to share. Funny story about that... One of the teachers that I am working with told me about her 2 yr old son. He absolutely refuses to eat most store bought eggs. Organic... well OK, but he is not happy about it. He just loves the fresh eggs he gets from his grandparents. He is only 2 and he will steal eggs from the chicken's nest then walk around the yard after the birds begging them for more eggs. They want to get him a couple of chicks to raise this spring. Yes... I just had to give them some eggs. This teacher told me today that her son will not let anyone else touch the eggs I gave them... he has to be the one to break them open. How cute is that?

So many posts all 318!!! I have been sick and not on recently! Congrats to all the new eggs!

Only 1 of my ladies is laying, and they are small eggs, so jealous of everyone's eggs!! I have egg Envy!! lol My other 2 girls are holding out on me, not sure why they are not laying yet. Maybe the frigid cold that has plagued us the last week.. I dunno, but they better start soon or its straight to the pot!!

Crafty Chick that's a lot of reading you did. Roses sorry to hear you were sick. Red, how is Lemon doing? If you blow up that pic you can see the feathers are there just small maybe she is going through a minor molt. I still think she just rubber her neck on something. I really don't think it is anything to be overly worried about.

Got my 4th beautiful green egg today Thank you Greta.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Niki

Oh My! Not sure how to take this, I've been able to collect 1 or 2 eggs a day, today, not 1!!! I feel cheated

Our Dominic has been hanging out in the coop with the

new girls, hardley coming out. Still no new layers just the BA and Wels. We're at a balmy 48 degrees today, cloudy. I can't help but wish the days away to spring.

Congratulations to all the new egg collectors! It's so stinking eggciting! Hope all had a good day!

We are having a serious flood situation here! You know how I live on a river? Well now the river is in the hen house. My son and I waded out with head lamps and moved the chickens to higher ground. But now I'm worried because it's supposed to change to snow after midnight. They're in the shed, but I don't know if they'll be warm enough? Our bridge is out and we can't go anywhere. My BF can't get home from work. My next door neighbor has 2 inches of water in his living room. The flood siren is going off, and it is SO ominous sounding. This all happened in the last 2 hours, and we're supposed to get 2 more inches of rain before midnight!

Fortunately, our house is on higher ground. It's survived a hundred years of storms. Plus we're all stocked up on food and dry firewood. But this is crazy. And I'm worried for our neighbors.

Thankfully, we still have internet
