Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

After having to cull my group of 6 down to 2!!!, I am waiting very impatiently for the first egg. My two were hatched July 11 and 16 and while they are making plenty of noise, no eggs. Of course they just got some peace(the other 4 from that batch were all roos-so there was drama) so maybe they just need some time to de-stress before we finally, finally, get some eggs. I have to pad out the flock as well, but I am waiting for them to settle before introducing newbies and throwing them in a tizzy again.

Merry Christmas to all you chicken lovers and egg waiters. It is 11.30am here so we have had breakfast and opened our presents. This is my first year of chickens and I am so besotted my husband bought me many chicken-y things. A door stop in the shape of a rooster. A charm bracelet with a chick, a chicken, a cat and a love heart. Sweet....

The Spike in my user name is Spike the cat. He "gave" the chooks - really, I knew my husband would love it! - a singing, dancing chicken. She sings Jingle Bells. If I can work out how to get a video up, I'll put a clip up, we laugh so much we cry.

The girls have had their favourite breakfast of bread and sardines. Soon I will give them a special treat - half a rockmelon which I hope they really like too.

I have three eggs so far today - the 4th keeps going into the nesting box so - maybe, just maybe - this might be my first ever 4/4 day.

May you all have a lovely, joyous, happy day - and how extra special ity will be if you get an egg!!!

Merry Christmas to you too SC!

Thanks for explaining your name, I was always wondering where the meaning came from! What a lovely morning you have had, love the presents. I think I am getting a chicken calendar I was eyeing at the mall the other day... DH thinks he is slick, but I saw him double back by the book store when he had to go to the "bathroom". lol.....

Maybe girl #4 will pull through for you today. DH and DD took a walk around the property today to see if we could find any eggs in all their spots they frequent. We didn't find anything. Maybe they are just a bit too young yet, specially with the shortened days. We are at 22 weeks, I would so love to go and find an egg. We are an hour away from midnight. I have cookies still baking, and have started my meatballs and sauce tonight, since I have so many other things to get read tomorrow. I also have a few presents to wrap still..

Merry Christmas all my BYC egg waiting friends. May you have peace and lovely days with your families.
Cheers all,
xo

Hello jyurina,

Welcome, so happy to have you!

WoW... four roo's, too bad it wasn't the other way around, 4 girls, and 2 roos!

Yes, good idea to get those eggs going before getting some newcomers to upset the applecart yet again!

Happy Holidays,
Post some pics of your girls, would love to see them! My flock is just a bit behind you, July 23rd hatch. I have been waiting and waiting, and waiting!

I have decided that when I check this afternoon if there are no eggs I will be having a discussion, should we say. Some of the props for this discussion will include a rather large pot and a bunch of vegetables! Perhaps this will get my point across to the girls. I want an egg and I want it now!

Then again they all may have been talking and working out a plan to all lay eggs on christmas day, which would be a great plan!

Merry Christmas to all and may all your egg boxes be full tomorrow!
You're not alone my dear! Too funny with the large pot and bunch of veggies! I was saying to the DH, and kids how lovely it would be if we got a Christmas suprise tomorrow..
That would be unvelievalbe!

Merry Christmas!

In the nest box!

This is in comparison to a store bought large egg. The egg is 37 grams.

I am sooo eggcited! What a wonderful Christmas eve gift. I had put the girls out a little late since it had rained this morning. When I went to go bring them in ... after I put them in a travel cage I always check the boxes ... just in case. YAAAHHH!
I think it was my larger girl with the red head in my avatar. Even thought they are the same age ... she is a little bigger.

Spike I had wondered about your name. That is a great gifts that you got. My name is the first 3 letters from my first and last name.

Melabella I know what you mean. I normally do a lot of baking and the holiday dinners. It is almost 9pm here in California. I still have more things to bake and a few more gifts to wrap. Tomorrow I will smoke my ham and bacon that I have curing for over 2 weeks. That will be for dinner but in the morning we always have fresh tamales, bacon & eggs for Christmas breakfast. (Mexican-American family tradition)

Everyone have a wonderful Christmas. I wish you all the best and eggs for all.

Here is the Christmas singing dancing chicken. I wrapped it as a present to Spike the cat. He is way less amused than we are. Our little friends visiting on Boxing Day (just had chocolate mousse pudding, can you tell?) helped us out. Their message is "Merry Christmas from Rob and Katrina". Everything about chickens makes us happy!

Still 3 eggs from 4 chooks. Barnie visits the box but.......
All the best
Katrina

I'm out of town visiting family for Christmas, and can't get home because of an ice storm. ARGH! I don't know if my younger girls delivered any surprise Christmas eggs or not! I'm hopeful to find some when I finally make it back up the mountain.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
