Our first day of 5 eggs!!!



And here is a pick of todays haul.

Get out of TOWN! That is so awesome... Just think.... just a mere week ago,, you were gettin out the stew pot! lol...
That is so unbelievably awesome! I haven't had a 5 egg day yet! Those stinking blue eggs are beautiful! So happy for you! Wonderful!

Wonder what tomorrow will bring!

Red... 10 girls? Nice... Glad you waited and didn't have to use the stew pot. That is a pretty collection.

Mellabella... so you think you may get some chicks this spring? The Blue eggs are calling you...

.... What could one or two more hurt And it will make a nice verity of color in your egg basket. That is partly why I wanted Murans... that beautiful dark brown eggs they lay. The Blue Andalusian would be white eggs that would be a nice contrast to the other colors. Brown from the RIR... I will replace those birds even though I have my little gold star... I just loved the color of the RIR as well as my Blue Andalusian. What a wonderful colorful basket that will make...

Love the critter cam thing. I want to get one of those. There are not as expensive as I thought. Maybe later after I have gotten caught up on the bills... There are a lot of people who dump things in the field next to my house. It would be great to be able to catch them in the act and send that to the authorities.

10 girls. Hoping for 5 again tomorrow but I feel 4.

I had three 4 day eggs in a row, then the last two days have been only 2. I gave away my first half dozen to my neighbor who is so wonderful about the dogs, and chickens being in their yard. They love my dogs, and have said they love seeing the chickens free range and scratch along their yard. Made me feel good to gift them, and they were so happy.

You can see it in Greta's eye she is holding out laying, just because she like the treats I give her to try to get her to lay. lol I have been off on my counting of weeks on how old she is. I was thinking she was 38 weeks but she is 37weeks (well 265 days)

LOL I see it! She's got the look that says, "just one more treat and I promise I'll lay you an egg tomorrow..."

So, no egg today, at least no egg that we could find. It's dark by the time I get home from work with the kids. That makes it tough to find anything if it's not in the nest box. Hopefully she's just taking the day off and not hiding her eggs out in the yard. I have my fingers crossed that we'll find another egg tomorrow. Or two, or three, if the other decide to join her...

I set mine to video today for a change. I might wind up with hours of footage of one chicken sitting in a nesting box. So that's probably what I'll be doing tonight, watching hours of footage of my chickens. Pretty exciting stuff.

Last night I dreamed I found 4 eggs in the nesting box. So this is either a good omen, or a sign that I spend way too much time thinking about eggs. I'll let you all know at the end of the day.

I'm already to 2 eggs this morning at 7am when I opened the coop door. I think I had a first time layer egg... very small and narrow. It also had a tinge of blood smear on it. I imagine the first time pushing one out stretches things out a bit!

Trying to get alot of housework done today... it's scary out of control around here..

That's what I'm going to try at 1st is the video since they still haven't started laying yet. So excited to get it. Did a 2 day shipping too LOL

OK... I know ... not a chicken.... but... The things this poor bird went throw just about a month ago....

She is a royal palm turkey. For those who are new... I had a dog attack a few weeks ago. 6 chicken were killed and 2 turkeys. This girl was VERY badly injured. But today she surprised me. She did not want to leave her eggs but I shoooed her off.



They are bigger then an normal chicken egg. And way bigger then the eggs I have been getting but I don't care... They look amazing ... I was not expecting this. She still has a huge wound... though it has a huge scab... still looks bad. She did not give any of the signs that a chicken would give... so a Amazing surprise for today. And 2 in 1 sitting...

What pretty freckled eggs! The blue ones are beautiful too. I can't wait for my EE to start laying so we can have some pretty blue eggs too.
