Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

My Colombian Wyandotte pullet Daisy is a nutty one. She is a bit of a loner, always acting a bit airheadish, and is always the last one to go in the coop every night. Duke comes out several times and tries to herd her back up the plank to the coop, and she always lags behind. Today, i had to completely empty the entire coop, all the bedding, all the hay, and completely clean out the nest boxes. Too much snow had gotten in, and with the day and a half that they were stuck inside during the blizzard produced so much droppings, it had just gotten wet and disgusting. The nest boxes were a mess too, todays eggs were all covered, and gross. So I completely emptied it, and realized I was out of new shavings, so I had to run to the feed store and get some. When I got back, I noticed Maisey up on the roost, making a racket. I remembered she laid her egg around 3pm yesterday, here it was 5:30, and I realized she probably needed to lay. When she saw me coming into the coop, she squawked and flew out, and Duke got all nutty, and they both ran off. I quickly bedded down, got the nest boxes all filled with fresh hay, and went to see where she was. I found her on top of the manure pile, where I had thrown all the soiled bedding, sitting on the very top, in laying position. I slowly approached her, scooped her up, with her screaming away, and Duke following behind me screaming and squawking,( I think he even got the back of my pants leg), and I put her inside the coop. She ran to the nest box, sat down, and proceeded to lay an egg. It was 6:25pm! Poor thing must have been holding that egg in forever waiting for the coop to be returned to laying condition!

Silly Daisy!

I have chosen only to check every other day or I will make myself crazier than I already am.
Thanks again for this forum. It's nice to know I am in good company!
I hear that! I wore a path in the grass all the times I went back and forth to those nest boxes.

THANK YOU, for joining us here, so happy you did! Keep us posted! One day soon, this is what you'll see.....

Sounds like a good bird to me!

Today I had my first 3 egg day! The only sad thing was that I had 3 light brown eggs from my 3 Easter Eggers. I was really hoping for colorful eggs.

Hey Red...

Just want to say hello, haven't seen you in a while, and hope all is well with you and yours. How is our beautiful Lemon doing? Thought about her today. Drop us an update!

I spoke too soon. I had a 4 egg day. All four of my girls laid today. I dropped my greenish bluish egg. Boo. But 4 eggs!!! I have an older pic of my girls on my avatar but I can take some more up to date ones. They look like rir's with black in the tail feathers. My other birds is a Wheaton Americauna. She has a standard Wheaton look. FOUR EGGS!!!

It's a 3 egg day today...FINALLY! Now if the 4th hen would start laying we'll be in good shape. The darker egg is the new one. I think it might be from my cuckoo marans, but I'm not sure. It's darker than it appears in the picture, but I was hoping her eggs would be a bit darker. Yay for 3 eggs!!!
