Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

Wow,, nice selectionn there. I am silently planning my next flock, I want some color in my egg basket. Mine laid at 25 weeks, but it was New Years Eve, and there is far longer sunlight hours now. You'll have eggs before too long! What are the 8 chicks breed?

There are 2 of each, Black Astrolops, Salmon Favorells, Brown Rose Comb Leghorns, and Silkies. They are so much more energetic than my first group, but we picked these up on hatch day, and they started drinking and eating right away.

Oh WOW.... That is so CUTE! I think you said that they are EE when you put them in...

OK... I am just about finished packing. A friend of mine and I are going on a short trip. It is my family reunion vacation. My friend is going so I don't kill the some of my cousins;) We are going on just a short trip. 4 days south to Ensanada and back to LA... yes it is Carnival cruse line. If you have not heard they have been having a little trouble with some of their ships. We will be on the ship called 'Inspiration'. I am sure it will be just fine and we will be back safe and sound. A few days to relax then come home for the rest of spring break. But at least away from home I should relax and not do the million things I know should get done;) Anyway... I will be thinking of all of you ... Good luck on eggs... I can't wait to see the rest of this hatch Brooster and I will be back on Monday to catch up on all the gossip.
Have a great vacation Cat,,, have a drink for me and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Okay, so when your chickens just start laying, how long before they get regular? My silkie laid her first 2 eggs in a row on Sunday and Monday, and nothing since (although I am aware that the silkies aren't really the best regular layers). Then my EE laid her first egg on Wednesday and nothing again yet. Every day they go in and out practicing, even performing amazing egg songs, but they are all fake-outs. Obviously, I know they will be sporadic when starting and other times like molting, etc., but just wondering about how long before they get into the regular laying mode. Thanks!!

Nakstk~ I didn't have to take it, here it isn't mandatory, just have to wait a little longer to get a permit. And I can tell you, the kids that took it aren't any better drivers than I.
Countrygirl~ mine took about 3 weeks to be regular

every chicken is different. My SS hens molted last fall they stopped laying in the end of Sept. Some of them just started laying again 3 weeks ago and they still are not laying regularly yet. I have read that it takes about a month. My EE started laying at 39week 2 days in that week she laid 5 eggs then she disappeared one evening after I let them all free range. That was almost 2 months ago.
