Any one want to join me in waiting for eggs, posting and comparing notes?

I officially have the MEANEST chicken on planet Earth! She is also the smallest of the hens. She is a Blue Hamburg, only lays 4-5 per week and pecks every one of my other girls. Napoleon Complex in a female! Here she is in "chicken jail" And she is TICKED off about it!!!

How is the mean bird doing? I put mine back in last evening with everyone but now the former bully is bullying the mean bird. It seems like when I separate them, it just makes things worse. I haven't watched them much this morning because I can't take the stress. LOL So, I don't know what to do so for now, I guess i'll let them fight it out. I wanted my injured bird to have some time to heal, she's been away from the agressor for 5 days so hopefully it gave her wound time to start to heal but i'm sure it's not fully healed by any means. The current bully seems to be leaving her victim alone, but the former bully is roughing up the current mean bird and at one point seemed to intervene and protect the current bullys victim. I'm confused! Anyway, i am at a loss. So, they will have to work it out I guess and I just need to let it happen and hope for the best.

I had done the same thing, removed my injured bird until she was healed and then reintroduced her during the day for a couple days and then also overnight. The injured bird went through a change, for 2 days she stayed away from everybody else and then she began to stand up for herself, almost becoming a bully. She was definitely not the head hen but she has lived with them for 4 months and there's been no repeat of that aggression as far as injury with anybody. Let them tough it out unless there's blood drawn. My 2 cents.

Hi Kdwag! The jailbird is not doing very well. If you have time look at the thread titled "Blue Hamburg Drama" in this same forum topic. Im so worried about her!!!

I have decided to do what you are doing...just let them fight it out. Its hard to watch but i cant sit out there all day and police them!!! Good Luck with your girls! Hoping for World Peace...in Chicken Land at least!!!

Here is my Egg Journal (originally inspired by Redangler and Melabella) for the month of March and a bit of February for continuity. It's interesting to see the fluctuation of daily lays and the slightly increasing rise in weight. Weight is in grams

Bonjour de Paris!!! Congratulations to all with good egg news! I have news from home that we finally had a 5 egg day -- all hens at work. I've ordered an egg skelter for storage and some egg cartons for gifting. I'm having a wonderful time in Paris, but I miss my chickies....in fact I saw this Easter leftover in Monoprix and just had to buy it....I intend to use the basket for gathering eggs when the chocolate hen and eggs are gone.
