I LOVE paints! Your girl is very beautiful and she has a very cute face too! We've had several over the past 13 or 14 years and my best horse was a solid sorrel paint. We had one bad experience with a drugged auction paint. He acted more like a stallion than anything else, even though he was a gelding. It was a shame because he was beautiful!
At the beginning of May, my dad picked up a little 2 year old black and white paint. She's definitely been a handful, but she's calming down and finally starting to fill out a bit. I think she'll be a small horse (14.3-15H) at the most. We ended up getting a free mare that was already trained, so my dad put the paint up for sale, but we haven't had luck with the bad horse market. We'll probably just follow through with hiring a trainer next year and hoping she grows large enough for us to trail ride with. She has a real nice personality, but has the potential to get a little crazy sometimes. She's calming down though.
Here's a picture of her from the summer time. She was wormy when we bought her and she stayed on the skinny side for most of the summer as we toyed with her food to find something that worked for her. Then all of a sudden during the past three weeks she got fat! We are hoping that she is not pregnant! The person we got her from was a horse trader, and who knows what she was exposed to. I have a feeling we just need to cut back on the feed and it could be the 24 hours of grass round bales that might be bloating her. When the vet comes the horse's shots we will have her checked out.
Anyways, here she is:
We had just mixed her in with our other three guys so she got a little beat up. That's why patches of hair are missing! LOL
Here she is with my dog and Sedona the red roan in the background.
I have pictures of my paint mare around somewhere. She was such a good horse. She was green when we bought her, but matured into an excellent 4-H project for me with all the work I put ino her. Unfortunately we lost her after an accident on a trail ride. Thank goodness my dad wasn't hurt, but I was heartbroken!
