Any Pediatric dentist here? I NEED HELP!

Thanks everyone for the advice...I too believed that caps on the frount teeth sounded a little weird.

Yes the reason they want to cap them is because it is sensitive and they think its close to the nerve and by what i mean a ruptured tooth is she hit the floor when she was learning to walk and cipped a peice of her tooth off not at the tip but a peice off the frount of the tooth almost at the gum line and it was exsposed it turned into decay they filled it the last time she went and 6 months later a peice of it has fallen out.

I will for sure be calling around to find out other ways and other dentist views on how to solve this matter. Thats why I wanted to ask here to see what others thought on the caps in the frount. I have heard alot of bad stories about the silver caps being toxic to kids and what not.

I also do not want them to pull out her frount teeth. The the 1st thing i didnt want to happen because thats what they usally want to do is just pull her teeth plus the dentist at kool smiles said they didnt wanna pull them either due to messing up her speech i dont know if that is ture or not.

Anymore advice is welcome she goes back to her dentist next friday so I have to know what my alternitives are.

My son is 2 and he is getting a cap on a front tooth next month. My older 2 girls haven't ever had a cavity or any troubles with their teeth but his is so brittle and he keeps getting cavaties. We take him to a pediatric dentist 2 hrs. away. His front teeth were busted out (by my 4 yr. old)...well, not busted out but both were chipped really bad. Then one started to decay fast. They want to cap this. We are having porcelain caps. It is a stainless steel cap with porcelain veneer to appear a normal tooth. It is going to be 100.00 for this cap.

One of my sons who's 30 now had to have one of his front teeth pulled when he was barely 3 because he had fallen and broken the tooth. It didn't affect his speech....he just had a gap in his mouth until his permanent tooth came in.

I really believe its depending on this childs age. When my daughter was 2 she was having problems with her teeth deteriorating and turning chalky. The pediatric dentist put her in day surgery and put caps where it was silver on the back side and white on front. Now she is 6 and 3 months ago the white part on one of the front teeth came off. We went to the dentist and he said "She is 6 and with it being the time the baby teeth will begin coming out--we are just gonna pull it. She already has a perm. tooth coming back.

Like others, I wonder how old this child is. Why are her little teeth deteriorating? I know a very health conscious family whose child's teeth rotted because they allowed her constant access to juice. Hopefully, someone will help you understand what your daughter's issues are, so you can head off future problems.
It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion, if you have access to another dental practice.

My dd had cavities on both her front teeth, and 4 others in different teeth. (No idea why, she brushes her teeth like mad and my ds never does.....he has no cavities). The first time the dentist mentioned it, he wanted to put her to sleep and cap them all. I said no and you'd have thought I told the sun to stop shining in that office. I'm sure you could have heard a pin drop. I don't care, my kid = my decision. So the next time we went, he suggested capping 2 of them since they won't come out for awhile and filling the other 2 (all were towards the back) with the stuff that looks like part of a tooth. He said we'd just watch the front teeth and if they got sensitive, he'd pull them. She's finally lost one of them and the other is loose. I refused to have her front teeth filled since she'd be losing them within a year of going anyway. Seemed silly to spend that much money on teeth she'd be loosing. Now the back ones won't come out for awhile so I didn't mind fixing those. They told me the same thing about not wanting to pull them. Something about keeping spaces for the teeth

I called around and finally found someone to give me a second opinion over the phone. I even talked to my dentist to find out what she thought.

Removing the baby teeth does more than mess up speech, I am a prime example of that. I had my baby teeth removed and they put false teeth on a retainer in their place and as an adult tooth grew in they removed a baby teeth. It didn't work..my jaw did not form correctly and now I have a really screwed up mouth. Only the last 4 molars touch in my mouth. I hate my mouth and if I ever won the lottery that would be the first thing I did, get my mouth fixed. In order to fix it now they would have to break my pallette and put in a spacer to start with. That is considered major surgery and cosmetic at the tune of $30,000. It is something that will effect me my whole life. All because my parents couldn't afford the proper dental care.

I had the silver caps put on my son and to be totally honest it did not effect him in anyway. We made it out to him being special and the tooth fairy would have to bring him more money now that they were silver and all that. He's 19 now and has the prettiest teeth that he takes very good care of.

clear caps? i have something called sealants they're clear and fill in the tooth to prevent cavities i've had them 12 years and love them, i had silver as a child and all 6 of them fell out!! the filling that is, and the tooth they capped decayed and broke off but because of the cap did not know that the tooth was in decay, i had to have it drilled out!

i too had my front teeth remove early (3) and no one could ever understand me,

My son had both his front baby teeth pulled after a few a few attempts to save them when he was 3.5 it didnt mess anything up. Just have them pulled would be my vote but I'm not a professional.
