I have a treadmill that i HATE to use. I have tried watching TV while I walk but it does not work and I feel ill when I am done my walk. (I get overheated because I dont sweat)

I walk out in the hiking trails and i walk for the same 30 minutes and I feel great no upset stomach no headache nothing

can I get the same work out on the trails as I do on my treadmill?

I'm not a pt, but I run.

If I were you, I'd run on trails. I HATE the treadmill, but have to use it in the winter to train for the spring races. Make sure you have the right shoes! I can't stress that enough. I told one of my friends who was having issues with her knees/feet to change shoes, and she's fine now!

Just be careful not to overwork yourself, you'll cause shin splints and all sorts of other unpleasantries.

Have fun!

thanks for the advice... ME RUN?... LOL are you mad?..lol I am way to heavy for that now so I have started walking and yes I have proper shoes.. (I have a shoe addiction)

So you are to heavy to run for 1 minute and walk for 1 min? You need to do some serious work to lose weight and become healty. I takes a lot more than a "walk"

you gotta start somewhere right

I have a degree in excercise Physiology, 30 min does not seem to be long enough, for the walk to do any good your heart rate must stay elevated for at least 80% of the time you are excercising in order to burn any calories. I hear what your saying about the sweating and it is our body's way of cooling off through water evaporation through the skin. I rarely sweat during a workout indoors also but when I finish my body will start to sweat it's ok just monitor your heart rate, if you are very overweight start slow with perhaps long duration low impact for starters till you get to feeling the juices flowing so to speak. elevated breathing and heart rate is the only way your body can burn fat, but if you have a heart condition please start slow and don't risk it until your sure you can handle it.

Way to go Dar! I'm going to take clue from you and start something similar. I can't run either lol But I CAN walk, so I will start! Thanks for the inspiration

I am under a doctors care and he has limited me to 30 min 2X daily because of the non sweating issue they cant figure it out why I dont sweat all tests come back normal... long story

thanks danielle... feel free to PM me and we can kick each others butts to keep moving...lol

Dar I don't run, but walking fast is GREAT!!! So is lifting bags of feed, chasing a horse around the yard, and hollering at goats while you chase them too.
