I have barred rock and black australorps that are 20 weeks old and I have two suspected roos but they do not have combs and wattles near as large and the pictures of adult birds. Does anyone have pictures at about 20 weeks old? Maybe mine are just very poor examples of the breed.

Thanks.

Here's my Australorp Roo at five weeks (he's on the right and a pullet is on the left) - you can already see a big difference.

Here he is as an adult - this is around 20 weeks old, just a little younger.

Thanks for the pictures. Maybe mine are hermaphdytes because they have the roo looking wattle and combs but the pullet looking tails.

BR roo's will be lighter in color than hens, they have thicker legs also.

Hens usually have more of a black wash down the legs and darker feathers.

They were 20 weeks on Monday and now crowing. I am still not conviced of what they are. I have heard it can take 7 months to crow.
