Okay so when ever I go to take a shower the valve that turns the water on and off comes out and water shoots everywhere. the first time i had to turn the main water off put the valve back in and turn the water to off then went and turned the main water back on. I have got to where I can here the pressure change and I catch the valve and turn it off before it comes completely out. Needless to say, my showers are not the most enjoyable thing right now, and trying to keep the valve in place while trying to wash is nearly impossible. I am frustrated and just don't know what to do. The water pressure is very good---could it be too strong? I don't know if it's bad installation or a bad design. PLEASE HELP......

Here are pictures of my shower faucet:

There is a pressure regulator where the water comes in to the house that keeps the pressure down. Mine died the other day so my water has a lot of pressure now. That does all kinds of bad things to valves though... Yours sounds broken though.

I am not a plumber, but we have dealt with minor issues in our home.

First, if this just started, I would be inclined to think the design is faulty.

If this was just installed and started happening immediately, then possibly Bad Installation

It seems to me, it would have to be some serious water pressure to knock the valve out, if it was working properly and/or was installed properly.

I would say the design or installation would be the problem.

Hey

My Dh is for the most part-sounds like a bad thread-or bad piece-plumbers tape is AWESOME very thin and transluscent almost -I use that to wrap a few times around the threads so when I screw it back on it's tighter and stays longer?

We have something partially plugging the Cold Water in our house, we have low pressure there, but only in the house, it is fine outside, so we know it is something in the line. Just have not gotten around to tracking it down yet......

I plan to replace it then. It's brand new, the house was remodeled about a year ago and has sat empty until about three weeks ago.

High water pressure wouldn't really be the culprit, right? I am leaning toward bad design/installation. I will search for the pressure valve and see if that helps.

thanks, i just wanted some clarification about the pressure issue.

Logically, if it was installed properly and/or good design, it would take A LOT of pressure to do what you are describing. I suspect, faulty installation and/or bad design. I am not saying the pressure could not do it, it is just that I think that would be more rare than anything else.

thank you so much. I guess I am off to buy a new one AND I will install it. That way I will know what went wrong -- HAHA...
