Unspayed does have an average lifespan of 6-9 years. That's a long life.

Yes, that is true.
Depends. I have a doe who is almost 7, has had a few litters of her own (is not spayed of course) and is as healthy as healthy can get! So really it just depends on the health and genetics of the doe.
I did breed buns, yes. But I'm "taking a break from breeding" for personal reasons. I have never fixed one of my bunnies. Never will.
So just anecdotal evidence. I am surprised though to hear that breeders are keeping 9 year old does. I would think they would retire and either cull or rehome them long before that.
Some they sell as retirees, sure. But others they have kept as personal pets that have lived long lives.
