Pretty bun buns! When I first saw this quote, I thought wadeaminut, they're gonna EAT her? I thought these were show buns?

We have a few bunnies as well, 2 Flemish Giant does and 1 buck and we will literally be putting them (or at least their offspring) on the table. With BBQ sauce.

Putting them on the table means getting them to their first show... I don't think I could ever eat a rabbit, one of my own or other! I am not against it by any means, I just could do it!

Sugar and Dreamer were born at odd times for showing and since mini lops have more points on TYPE TYPE and some more TYPE I had to wait to see them develop. With spring show coming up I am finally ready to get them to shows!

Hello Rabbit Lovers,
We here at "Rabbit Run" have a Bunny Barn where "big beautiful bold bunnies" are kept for loving homes....
For you see we are Rabbit Rescue NY (near Buffalo/Lockport) ([email protected]) where we have been taking in unloved bunnies from families and giving them a good home till a family who loves bunnies is willing.
Our busiest time of the year seems to be May/June/July/August when all of those "Easter Bunnies" grow up and nobody in "that particular" family loves or even feeds them anymore, I have heard many stories of "did you feed the rabbit in the basement today" and such like that.
So people search us out and we provide a loving home where bunnies are loved, fed, cared for, and exercised each day (depending on weather) in the rabbit run. We work with a Vet that specializes in small animals of all kinds, and we also work with the local SPCA in adoption & foster care when they get too many (usually in a "house raid") We also work with the House Rabbit Society as to adoption rules.

Our oldest bunny is Daisey a "mean tempered" "tude" bunny Lop-Ear who likes things "her way" and will attack if she doesn't like what you are doing...feeding...watering....haying...etc she doesn't have a reason...it's just her. Other times you can pick her up or pet her and no problem...not often though!
She bit my wife Cheryl when she had gloves on while feeding her pellets & hay...we figure she didn't like the gloves! We have Stew-ette a female Rex rabbit who is very smart, listens to what you say and tries to "understand" what you are saying, Henry "the Houdini" rabbit who can escape any cage unless it is wired down tight!
Lucy a miniature female who was rescued from a lady who was just gonna let her loose in the wild of her backyard because rabbits can fend for them selves "can't they"?
Hopper a big black domestic "meat rabbit" who came from a rabbit production farm (meat farm), he was given to us after the "production got too much" for the family raising meat rabbits!
Hazel is white with gray ears female who is just lovey, and loves to be hugged & loved, very communicative and is our "star" Easter bunny this year.
Her bonded mate is a fixed male called "Dutchy" a Dutch rabbit who also was rescued who loves Hazel (you can see it!) and stays with her when they are out in the rabbit run, as well as when they are in the bunny ban.
When one is loose in the yard (lots of clover) near the barn the other is in the rabbit run they stay right near each other.
We even have a handi-capped bunny named "Smudge" who has a cleft palette that we use for Christian ministry with children to discuss handi-capped children.
There's more but I can't remember the rest at the moment.

OK so I'll get off the soapbox and introductions.
(Yes the same guy with chickens (on this list) also in Lockport NY, as well as ducks & geese & soon turkeys to be raised.

We have one lionhead named Lionheart. I don't have any pics of him though, he is pretty agressive and doesn't even like for you to put you hand in his cage, he growls at you when you do.

Are you sure he is a he? Girl bunnies get pretty aggressive about their areas, its the mommy in them!

As far as rabbit rescues, I thank you. Not a lot of people know rabbits also need rescuing! Everyone thinks dogs and cats of course, but rabbits are the 3rd most animal put to sleep each year in the US. I started with rabbit rescue a bit, but honestly our area isn't the nicest for new rescues. Meaning, if I was taken other rescues attention away from them, our group would be blamed for millions of things. So I began breeding full time. I do every now and then get calls from local shelters about special needs bunnies that we take on, but nothing full time rescuing. As long as breeders breed the right way, as in I will take any rabbit I sell back for any reason and I don't sell for Easter, then breeders wouldn't get the bad rescue rep they do.

Thanks again for rescuing, and please keep us updated on your rescued rabbits!

Ooh, I want to jump on here....I had 2 bunnies and MsFord just added 1 to her bunch the other day, thankfully. Ms Stella was just a bit much for my other bunny....the bunny I still have is Monroe, a lionhead mix I just had neutered last week. He is a cute, swett little guy. This picture makes him look much bigger than he really is.

Here is his current humble abode

I am planning on moving him outside....currently in the process of painting and replacing wire on this chicken tractor which will make a great home for the little guy and hopefully a suitable buddy.

It has a 4x8 footprint......6 feet outside, 2 feet inside and the wooden area can be secured for nighttime.

I had rabbits off and on since I was a little girl, but just got back into them the past 8-9 months.

Here's my little Lionhead buck, Wascal

The girls had babies before I got them and plucked themselves silly.

If I remember I'll take pick of my grand daughters two. She's 5 years old and has Easter and Jacob.

Stella is doing great by the way! She is a sweetie, but is a bit on edge still. She has a coat to die for! Who ever bred her parents either had amazing fur stock or had a wonderful accident!
