Any reason to not put dog hair in nest boxes?

Wait. What? NO fleas in Idaho??? How come? Not that I have a flea problem, but sure could save money on Frontline!

I wouldn't expect the chickens to like hair as a nesting material. They don't weave nests the way most perching birds do. And if they eat the hair (which I suppose is possible, since we are talking chickens here), there is the potential for impacted crop.

Me, I wouldn't do it.

I probably wouldn't put it in the nest boxes just because it might cause digestive problems if they ate it.

I save my dog's hair for the garden. I distribute it around the baby plants and the smell seems to deter the rabbits that like to munch on my peas and beans.
