Any Recommendations? Help a chicken noob

I’ve never kept chickens ever and I have convinced my mother to let me get a couple. Our city ordinance only allows 6 chickens, and my mom says I am allowed to get 3. I need help with breeds though,I love the look of barred rocks. But I also love the Easter eggers. Could I get all different breeds ,would they pick on each Other? I would prefer that they look different from each other so I could tell them apart. I live near Chicago so it gets hot and cold here. There main purpose is for eggs but I also want a friendly breed

Get a mix!
I currently have 11 chickens of 10 different breeds. They get along just fine. They were raised together as day old chicks.
I live in NY so we have cold winters and very hot spells during summer. All my birds have faired well in both extremes.
I have an Easter egger (EE), Salmon Faverolles (SF), Delaware, Rhode Island Red (RIR), Barred Plymouth Rock (PBR), Speckled Sussex (SS), Black Australorp (BA), California white, olive egger, and 2 white leghorns (WLH).
