Any scientists on BYC or users of Sulfur?

He Put the Same stuff (It was a yellow Powder) on his Boots,pant legs-cuffs and on me as a youngster when i went to visit
he swore by it

Same here. Sulfur in the socks when you are out in the weeds fishing. It keeps the Chiggers and Ticks away.

Why not just use livestock flea powder? It is specially designed for chickens, goats, cows, any livestock. It can be found at TSC and it is designed to keep away flies, ticks, insect pests.

The "specially" designed labels on most products is just a marketing ploy in most cases. Most companies don't have the budget to formulate such products or spend a ton of $ on R&D.

If DE is not readily available, you could use talcum powder to cut the sulfur powder.

BTW, sulfur is an excellent anti-fungal and can be applied on the vent area if any of your birds suffer from gleet (dirty butt). You can apply it powder puff style with an old gym tube sock knotted on the open end.

Those "livestock flea powders" are mainly sulphur in any case.
We don't actually have TSC down here but I know what you mean.

O.K guys, I have used a blend "my blend".lol. Of Sulfur, DE and Lime!!!

It was a crazy ultimate powder, I have dusted them twice coating them in the stuff, emptying out all the materials and washing and treating the nest shed and roost.

The reason I don't just buy the "specially made" stuff is because I am sick of spending so much for so little and all it has in it ( like Ash said ) is mainly sulfur!!!

So if a mix of DE, Lime and Sulfur doesn't work then how can they commercial powder work.
