Well, if I had been in Florida, I wouldn't have had a tough choice about where to get my Sheltie puppy! I would have gone to Plial's Sheltie Ranch, breeder of International Agility Champion, Wave (and several other USA International Agility Team members).

For anyone who hasn't seen how a Sheltie can tear up an agility course, check out Wave and her handler Marcy in their gold medal run in 2008:

I hope Windy can be half that good. Of course, I am now worried that I won't be able to keep up with her!

This is where I got my kids:

She's got so many agility and obedience champions that she has bred, that I feel a little guilty that mine are just farm dogs. I tried taking Punkin to obedience class. He did it, but hated every single minute of it. He'd much rather be on the farm taking care of his critters.

Yep, I've heard of Himark Shelties, too. You've got some dedicated agility breeders down there in Florida! Try Punkin in agility. I used to do obedience, but both the dogs and I find agility way more fun.

Update on Windy: stacking practice at 10 weeks, or at least the best I can do by myself and still get a picture. Why do puppies only toe-out when you want to take a picture?

It is not likely that she will ever be shown in the breed ring anyway, since by the growth charts she is looking to be close to 16 inches as an adult. Both the breeder and the owner of the sire were so hoping she'd stay in size, since they considered her the best in the litter, but it was my good fortune that she didn't!

This weekend at 11 weeks, practicing stays with big sister Katie. Stays are a work in progress at this point!

I know this is an old thread, but, my daughter(12), is looking to get a puppy to do the chicken chores with, and to travel with and such. She’s looked into Aussies, border collies, and shelties. She’s really hooked on the Shelties though. Which do y’all think would be best for her?
