Sheltie Appreciation Thread!!!!!!

My Sheltie is just a ... nervous barker. Or something. I don't know what his problem is. He barks at US. I mean, at his own family. I can walk out the back door and he barks at me. I turn right around and come back in and he barks. I mean, he can SEE that it's me! Even when I speak to him, he goes on. Every time my husband moves, it's bark bark bark. If he sneezes, he barks. I've finally started keeping the e-collar on him and been giving him a little vibration after the second bark. It's helping. But only when he's wearing the collar. He's 8 years old and we got him at 15 months. He was not well socialized.

Im sorry. Im not sure why he would bark at everything even you. Maybe he learned something before you got him and he just refuses to stop.

When we got him he was a spinner. So nervous and high strung he'd spin around like ... a mini tornado. He doesn't do that any more. He was also a non-stop ball chaser. That's stopped too. All that's left of all that nervous energy is the uncontrolled barking. He's come a long way, really.

I remember when I would take Sammy outside, I'd put him on the 15-foot long line. And I'd stand in one spot and he'd run circles around me. Top speed. For like, at least ten minutes .... he was a lunatic, like he'd never been allowed out or something. Poor guy.

Chase is like that with people in my family besides me. He barks at them a lot, even when he 100% knows it’s them. He never barks at me like that. I really don’t know why, It’s weird

Weird. Brew barks when I leave but shuts up after a minute LOL
