Any Singer / Songwriters out there?

I sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been taking voice lessons for about maybe 5-6 years, since I was young, but for the last 3 years I've had a former opera singer/pianist teacher, who teaches the old Marchesi technique, with vocalise and it really builds up your voice. I've also been in two operetta choruses (Gilbert and Sullivan

). I mostly sing classical; some folk songs and hymns, and I love doing short opera pieces. Right now I'm learning L'ho Perduta, Me Mechina from The Marriage of Figaro and a folk song. Not crazy about the folksongs though, excepting Greensleeves. I also like a very limited amount of Jazz/spanish influence music, but I really like classical music the best.

I absolutely cannot stand either country or pop music. Sorry. I can hear all the Taylor Swift fans screaming at me.

Wait, I just realized how off-topic this thread has become....

I was in bands for several years, mostly GB/cover bands, then branched out with my friend into an original band (writing our own material), then eventually we dropped the band and became an acoustic songwriting duo. We haven't been actively gigging for about 10 years but do occasionally perform at a hoot (open mic) night now and again. For now, my family has taken precedence, also my duo partner got a medical degree and has been working on her career. After my youngest is out of high school I'm hoping to get back into it. Sometimes I can hardly believe I'm the same person as I was when I was doing music all the time.

KristyHall and I do karaoke. We were in choir together back in high school and even sang together at some of the Native American festivals and such. She's much more talented at it than I, but I think we both enjoy it thoroughly.

Cool. We have a pretty good karaoke set up, just seldom ever use it anymore due to lack of anyone else wanting to in this area. Karaoke is so much more fun when you have several people singing. Last time I checked we had over 1,700 CDG's with over 25,500 songs. It was my hobby collecting them for years.
When we did karaoke for the public I heard some amazing singers! Some that would just step up to the mic and totally blow you away. I mean better than most of what you hear on the radio.
Others would step up to the mic and make your ears bleed and make you hate a song forever.

With the worst ones I'd be leaning over to see the screen to see if they were singing the same song I was playing.

My friend and I write guitar and piano parts for our music, along with some lyrics. Right now, it is all on paper, but nothing is recorded. We both have very... uhm... 'special' voices, so we are going to wait until we can find someone who wants to lay down vocals for us.
