Any snake lovers out there?

I know the chances are pretty slim, considering this is a chicken board, but hey, I have a snake and chickens, so maybe there are some others who are a fan of both, too. :) I've got one corn boy, a ghost morph named Gabriel. He's 6-7 months old, super sweet, and gorgeous. He's my baby. He just gave me a brand new shed, and while I don't have any pictures within the last few days, he's so soft and shiny now!

I'm planning on either more corns, a hognose, and/or a ball python sometime in the future. :)

I am down to 4 corn snakes. Have had other corns, king snake and ball python in the past. My corns are 13 years old this year and I've had them since they were hatchlings. I probably won't replace them after they're gone but its been a good run. I've found they are actually a great companion to chicken raising as I never have to worry about how to cull a chick that needs to be euthanized. Also, when I incubate eggs, any that develop but don't hatch don't go to waste - they become snake food. In addition, like many chicken keepers I have a constant problem with mice wanting to live in the coop and eat the chicken feed. So I keep a variety of traps and whatever I catch becomes snake food as well. I haven't actually bought snake food for years as the by-products of raising chooks has been sufficient to keep them fed and happy

Snake lover here! I don't own any, unfortunately, my dh is deathly afraid of them. @@ I am a zoo volunteer, and get my snake fix that way. We (well the zoo) had a corn snake, Corny, for something like 8 or 10 years that I just loved. She was a mess though. She'd explore pockets, belt loops, wind around your radio, wrap around antlers on the biofact table, all kinds of fun. You haven't lived until you're at an outreach, talking to about 10 people, then realize your corn snake has gone up your sleeve, and come out through the buttons on your shirt.

My son's drug of choice is a ball python named Poe. She is also at the zoo. Poe loves my son, and frequently falls asleep on him. I wouldn't have thought snakes could bond to someone like she has to Matt. If I were to ever get a snake at my home, it would definitely be a ball python.

Gabriel is stunning.

. As a child I used to be terrified of reptiles. As I grew up and learned more about them I ended up falling in love with them.

Oh my goodness, that's a brilliant idea - and so many lovely snakes! I am especially partial to corns, haha - every one I've met has been so friendly, and absolutely gorgeous. Balls and kings are wonderful too, though - I can't wait until I can have a ball python as well. :)
I'll have to think about that once my boy is bigger! He's still just on fuzzies, so the chances of thee being anything he can eat nearby is little to none, LOL. Brilliant idea though, and good for everyone involved.

Aww, that stinks! My brother is the same way, he said all sorts of nasty things - but Gabriel has grown on him and I know he loves him, whether he'll admit it or not, LOL. Volunteering at a zoo sounds amaaaazing. Ours has so many lovely snakes (and frogs!), I'd spend so much time there if it wasn't so far away. It's always been my favorite part of the zoo. Corny sounds amazing! Gabriel does the same thing, he loves sleeves! Hair is his favorite thing, though, he'll weave and burrow and curl up on top of your head.

That sounds so great, oh my goodness. I think snakes are a lot more friendly than most people realize - and my boy definitely has people he likes more than others, haha.

Thank you guys for the compliments, too - I'm sure he appreciates it

He has just absolutely stolen my heart from day one, and my family's, too.
