any suggestions on red mange?

I have never heard of given it to them daily?

The dose I use an see others using is 1/10th of a CC for every 10 pounds or 1/100th of a CC per pound in there food once a week for 4 or 5 weeks

CURRENT TREATMENT OF CHOICE -- IVERMECTIN
Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anti-parasite medication with a number of uses though
its use in treating demodicosis is not approved by the FDA. When ivermectin was a new drug it was hoped that it could be used against demodectic mange mites as at that time only fairly toxic dips were available and incurable cases were common.

After some experimentation it was found that daily or every other day dosing is necessary for effective demodicosis treatment and soon ivermectin was felt unequivocally to be the drug of choice for this condtion. Note that the weekly protocols that work for other parasites simply do not work on Demodex mites.

Interesting... links not working for me though.

Once a week has worked for me all but one time an that dog was genetically very sensitive to mange. I would have thought every day would make a OD situation. Good to know.

I don't understand why people post these sort of issues. I'm not an expert...it's why I go to the vet. To me, it sounds like the dog is needlessly suffering. Bring it to the vet instead of trying to treat it yourself.

I would say mange is a little more extensive than a headache. It's a serious condition, and when dosing Ivermectin, I'd want to get a for sure assessment rather than oh, that worked for me and google searches.

Since, you know, it can kill an animal.

If an animal had something simple like a cut in a strange spot, or what have you, I would agree. It'd be silly to take to a vet. But exposing a family to mange, plus allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the other possible internal parasites just seems silly to not spend the 200 bucks on a vet visit. If it was so poorly treated it could have heartworms, round worms, giardia, anything really.

It's just my opinion, I just don't think it's fair to the rescuer or the animal.
