Any Tricks For Getting Hardware Cloth To Lay Flat

I used US made 1/2" cloth - and it rolled out flat... Huge surprise and smile. The was woven before being galvanized - so I guess it had some reason to spring back flat. Only problem was letting go of it and it unrolling all the way across the street.

I'm using a 2x4 with nails in it, spaced to fit the mesh. I cut the cloth a little long and put the 2x4 up through the mesh at the bottom, outside the frame. Then a little pressure and it pulls the cloth tight. Basically a DIY stretcher. I've seen folks attach these to a come along, but since I'm put cloth on the frames flat on the garage floor, the whole frame would 'come along'..
