Any tricks for keeping slugs out of feeders

I'm more concerned about the wide spacing of the wire run (whatever is encircling your coop) a raccoon could reach in and pull out a big piece of chicken anatomy to bite off. They love doing that. Also snakes and small predators can get thru the openings of the wire. It would be much more secure if you had 1/2" hardware cloth from ground up about 18" to back the fencing you have now around coop.

I’ve been doing the flying slug routine. I keep an old trowel close to the run. This morning I found five large brown slugs. Each one is picked on on the trowel and thrown as far as I can. That’ll teach them.
I’ve had to start putting the feed away at nights now as I spotted mouse droppings in their food. My other problem is I seem to be feeding every local bird, most of which are living under my roof tiles. They’re very small and come out formation style once they know there’s food out!

Fermented feed is not an attractant to wild birds, b/c they can't grab it and go. But, even so, I do not leave any feed out at night.
