The way I wash my feathers is:
Soak the feathers for several hours in dish soap and water. Take the feathers out and wash them individually to get off any poop. Rinse well. Then I blow dry them dry. I used to put them in a bag in the freezer for two weeks to get rid of any mites/bugs. I haven't been doing this lately, as I have been kind of impatient. You can skip the freezer part, I'm sure. I haven't had any bug problems by skipping it.
I use my feathers for all sorts of crafts, including dream catchers.
