Any weather spotters (watchers) on here?

I would love to go on one of those tours were you get to chase tornadoes with a storm chaser. I would either be really fascinated with the tornado, or I would need a new pair of pants

I have a favorite meteorologist... He has a blog and posts at least daily about what is going on with the weather and what he's working on. It's really fascinating to see all the things meteorologists use to make their predictions. People really have only been keeping scientific records of the weather for about 100 years... They use computer modeling to simulate what is likely to happen combined with scientific observations, and they also look at past history.

For example, we've been having an extemely cold October in our area, so he and his crew have been looking at past cold Octobers to see what happened next to see if that can help them to draw any conclusions about what might happen in our area this winter.

Same here. I'm hoping between now and spring to hook up with one of our local chasers and see if we can tag along sometime. That's pretty ironic because growing up my one reoccuring nightmare that I used to have was actually me being chased by a tornado. LOL

Weather spotting is fascinating no doubt about it! Do any of your have any pictures of storms that you've spotted, over the years?

I don't have pictures. Apperantly when there is a tornado warning for our area, we have to use the same precautions as if we were being nuked. My parents herd me my brother and the dog into the bathtub before anything exciting happens. There have been a few times when we have been close to being hit. After I have watched stormchasers I realized how hard it is to be hit by a tornado when you want to, so maybe storm chasing is not that bad.

We have always been fascinated by weather watching but became more intrigued in following storms after watching the movie Twister.
